Filipino President Ferdinand Marcos Jr has announced a state of emergency - which is triggered by numerous deaths, widespread structural damage, and interruption of income sources and the normal way of life for residents of impacted regions.
The typhoon, called in the region Tino, ripped through the populous island of Cebu, submerging entire towns and sweeping cars through the streets.
Tens of thousands of people had to be relocated, while some are sheltering in designated safe zones.

Rescue teams are actively operating as evacuated residents seek shelter in designated safe areas.
