Iran Reports Assault on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Regional Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments landed in a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
