The goalkeeper Had little to do to make before the break but then called into action from an opponent's curling effort. A sliding challenge against Qazim Laci highlighted his anticipation. 6/10

The defender Moved forward with the ball at his feet, as he has done previously. On occasion lacked urgency when carrying play with the approach discontinued at half-time. Six

Dan Burn A constant threat on corners and free-kicks, per usual, but may be an alternative to his teammate in defense rather than paired with him. A careless pass later in the match came close to an opener from the visitors. 6

Nico O’Reilly One more assured display from the 20-year-old after his debut against Serbia. Saka was unable to take the opportunity from a gorgeous flick over the opposing backline. His position is his to lose so soon. 7

The newcomer His first start with the national team. Somewhat loose in possession however his dangerous set-pieces posed a danger. A useful game manager available to the manager to call upon against teams who drop deep. Shown a yellow for a poorly timed tackle. 6/10

Declan Rice Crosses from corners and set-plays were dangerous. Was given license to drift on the left but was in an offside position when the ball arrived in front of goal. Granted a merited substitution around the 60-minute point. Six

The star midfielder Operated in an advanced spot down the right and also did plenty of defensive duties. Displayed glimpses of brilliance and mishit an attempt high. Withdrawn towards the end by a teammate, a fellow player, after being booked. Seven

Jarrod Bowen Was presented with the team's top opening before halftime, his effort smartly stopped by the opposing goalkeeper. As a teammate staying deep, he had to offer an outlet out wide yet his deliveries from wide areas were inconsistent. Substituted with 15 to go. 6

The captain The match-winner scoring seventy-seventh and seventy-eighth strikes in an England shirt. The opener a trademark poacher’s finish and his next an excellent header following a clever run off his defender. Aged 32, he continues to improve and England have every chance in the upcoming tournament with him up top. 8

The attacker Found it tough to influence play on the left flank. Was presented with a decent opportunity following a pass from a teammate yet the keeper made the save. Rashford had a greater influence when substituted. 5/10
